Well tommorow will be the 7 week out mark for my next show but fate has thrown me a little monkey wrench. This week I have had an extreme pain in my neck, right shoulder and arm. My right shoulder all the way down to my hand is completely numb. No incident in paticular that I can think of caused this just woke up last Friday with a stiffness in my neck that has got progressively worse. Back in 2007 I suffered a neck injury while messing around with some MMA guys. I ended up having a disk removed and fused with a cadever bone and Titanium plate. With my history no one really wants to treat me without and MRI so today I went to get one on my neck and right shoulder. Unfortunately I didn't take any pain pills or muscle relaxers before and the MRI on my neck was about all the pain I could take. I got half way through the shoulder MRI and I kind of pussed out and made them stop. I just could not go another 20 minutes. So I have my neck pictures and I will be taking them over to my Chiropractor. If they look okay she can at least start treating without fear of further damaging my neck. If the pics don't look so good well she will send be over to the same neurosurgeon who performed my first surgery and my season will be over and with 2 neck surgeries it might be time to bring my bodybuilding career to a close. I had a great offseason and was having a really good contest prep. This past week without working out and hardly eating from the pain and misery I have dropped about 13LBS. No matter it has been a great run and I will live vicariously through Marilyn and other Pro Muscle Members competing.

Tony, I am so sorry to hear...I just sent you a PM.

Aeliop,
My best suggestion is to send copies of your MRI to both your Chiro & your Neuro. Sounds like the will have what they need from your Cervical MRI.
If you have nerve root impingement then the sooner you have corrective surgery, the better the outcome.
I fought mine for 6 weeks. I ended up with a permanent 10% deficit in my right arm from long-term impingement into the motor-neuron portion of the nerve root. Don't make my mistake of waiting and trying everything else possible when surgery was the solution.
Best wishes for a good outcome. Stay strong, I know what a difficult time this is for you.

Oh damn bro that sucks , don't jump to conclusions though it could be somthing as simple as an imflamed muscle especialy if it jus happened over night while sleeping , about twice a year I get a spasim in my neck on the right side that will cause pressure on my spine and resemble a pinced nerve , I always get an MRI to make sure as I fractured my neck their in grade school but typicaly a few days of massage and warm/cold compress and its all good

fingers crossed there might be a positive outcome with this aeliop, hang in there and keep your chin up :)

Please keep us posted on how you do. We certainly wish you nothing but the best.

bro stay positive its probably not as bad as you think it is, but like they say hope for the best but be prepared for the worst.

Tony, I am really sorry to hear this news. But, never say never. The main objective right now is to obviously get this addressed and taken care of where you can function pain-free or close to that if possible. Stay positive. Personally, I have been at points in my life where I thought my gym days were over. They weren't. I was wrong. I got around the bumps and went back to the gym. You find ways to go around those and you still get to the same point. I bet you will too. All this may have you feeling at a low point about this right now, its only natural. The true measure of a champ is how they face life's adversities. You seem like a fighter and a happy guy. That will carry you far.

I wish you well, bud

Damn Tony,
That does not sound good, but you are a resiliant Mf'er and will work your way through this. Where there is a will there is way. It may mean to back off and be more careful with exercise selection but there is always a way. In any case please keep us posted and what the outcome may hold. As always do not be afraid to get another opinion either. All the best!

Sorry to hear brother. If you gotta do the MRI again go somewhere that has an open magnet, that way your not in the tunnel the whole time. Only like 1/2 your body is, its not bad at all.

I am so sorry to hear that Aeliop...I know how you enjoy bodybuilding, but health first! I wish I could give you some of my neck...you are such a great person and hate to here news like this. Hang in there and keep us posted.

Hi Aeliop,

I am sorry to hear that! I am no expert, but did you try to go to different Dr's and opinions? I hope its not the end of your bodybuilding! Remember mate the positive always outweighs the negative...Nothing is impossible with God

I be thinking of you in my prayers !

Regards,

Chef

Stay up brotha, hoping all the best for you... Hope all of this comes to a resolution with good news soon.

sorry bro

had 4,5,6 fusion 2 years ago at 43 years of age. every body said i was done.will try to get some pics posted of me now. I am everybit as good as before just train smarter, don't and try and keep up with the 20 something kids, i am not saying this to brag, just realize you can come back , just have to realize those days of trying to be the strongest bodybuider are over.

OLD AGE AND TRECHARY , WILL AWAYS OVERCOME YOUTH AND SKILL !

You guys are always supportive, and you offer good advise from your own experiences..

I like the last quote because I totally agree with it....You can look great and be healthy, and do not need to lift more then anyone else, or get hurt in the proccess...

I prefer to enjoy life in a healthy way and I think he's ready to accept that it's ok....But its been tough not to be able to help much when pain meds and nothing helps.

But there's always a light, a positive thought...things could be worst..at least he's finally getting help...it took a few days to convince him to be seen by anyone and loose the tough guy mentality, so it will be ok.

Thanks!
