GotFina is no more....

Well, it appears as though Gotfina is shut down, none of the mods can logg on as of a couple of hours ago. Very sad day for all of us over there. We worked very hard to maintain a flame free board with no source posting and minimal commercialism.

It appears as though Mr. H aka Christopher Hummel, passed away last weekend in a car accident. Here's a link to the newspaper article pertaining to the story. He was a very young dude, worked at Mass Quantities as a computer exec and was mature way beyond his years.

All the mods recieved an e-mail on Saturday from somebody claiming to be a close friend. When I did IP and e-mail searches and such all roads pointed to the same town, East Rockaway. And now the site is "off-the-air" so we conclude that all of this is real.

I'm just glad that SwoleCat has his own site to maintain the fire as it were and old timers from the board (xcel and Ivan) have quality places to call home.

Thank you, and I do plan on hanging around more. Yeah, BillyGman had the tendency to rub people the wrong way but he's a very smart guy and always had GF's best interests at heart.

OK MDR that's your take on him, but personally he is the one guy on the boards I would like to meet in person to thump the hell out of... I know, I know, but in our little PM war he fucking went way outta line, (will not get into details) and even Swole said he could get me back, but I would not go back unless his smart know-it-all ass was gone.

That day I had NEVER stared at my CPU screen with such ferocity and rage....I was turning colors and my breathing was all out of control, I thought I was gonna have a stroke for god's sake! He has a serious complex, hell I thought the guy was a cop they way he talked to me etc..

Sorry to hear that took place. It was one of the boards I first started my research on years ago. When they changed to the other format I found this board and got busy staying here.

I actually started at Elite when it first when online - or shortly thereafter (~1996-1997?). It was a free site back then. It grew so fast and the reponses were mainly childish I was literally afraid of the info that was being provided. This is too bad as there are many good vets there.

It really left a bad taste in my mouth about boards. I read an article in Testosterone.net years ago (and after the Elite experience) about topical fina. It mentioned a new board that formed to discuss fina - the fina board, which was as spin-off through Elite.

I reluctantly went there and got HOOKED. For the longest time I didn't even think there were other boards out there (other than Elite). I was like member #60 there.

In the ol' Fina Board days there were MANY knowledgeable bros that participated and if you didn't cut-and-paste or quote the medical journal citation, your info was blown off - or at least it seemed like it

I went from there and ventured out into the cruel world of boards. Probably became a member of no less than 30 and that's probably not even a fourth of whats been around in that time frame.

I discovered Big A's new boards through BigBadAsian via GoHeavy - rippedmass and professionalbodybuilding. Big A was MORE than helpful and I liked the way he ran his boards, which became my new homes.

I really need get more focus back into bb'ing instead of cruisin'. I haven't been around to other boards much lately, even rippedmass

Yes this is very unfortunate indeed just found i could not log in, but now i have the PM board as my home base and can now post more and thier are many bros here who i know are great guys.

i cant believe yet another death. i am speechless. im sorry to hear this.

I have been a member at Gotfina since the begining. Right now I am at a loss. I was just on there this morning and knew something was up, but I didn't know it would be so sad.

I've learned so much from everyone there. I gave back to the board by putting together the fina conversion page with all the pics and info.

That board had a great group of bros and it will truely be missed by me. Wondering now where everyone will end up if the board is going down for good? Hopefully not scattered to far.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Chris's family.

shit, that is too damn bad. I never posted much at GF, but I enjoyed reading some of the threads and learned a thing or two from SC and the rest of the crew along the way.
