I am 10 days past my last squat session in which I used some knee wraps much tighter than I normally do (maybe 80% of a competition style wrap).
I had zero pain during the workout, however as the day progressed my left knee began to lockup and I could not bend it by more than about 20 degrees without severe pain.
Fast forward 10 days and while the range of motion has improved, I am unable to perform an airsquat due to severe pain in both knees, all centered around the kneecaps. The left knee remains worse than the right. I have been getting treatment with minimal results so far (acupuncture, electro stim, ART). I have been icing for 10 minutes at a time 3 or 4 times per day.
Has anyone ever heard of knee wraps causing a problem like this or do you possibly have any ideas with could possibly be going on? There is no swelling, but you can clearly see inflammation especially on the left knee under the kneecap. Any help is appreciated, I am about 8 weeks out from a meet and would hate to have to shut it down at this point. Thanks in advance.
