Video editing software and pc recommandations

Does anyone have any experience with video edting software? I used to have access to professional grade video cameras and a full editing suite, I had the keys to the rooms, so I pretty much had 24 hour access to them all.

At one point I had some Pinnacle software, but it was just for playing around with, nothing serious and I never really got into using it as I would just go straight to the station I worked at for real editing.

I'm also wondering what the best recommendations would be for the pc, including ram, HD, video cards...whatever else you think I would need to really pump it up to get the best experience out of the software.

I haven't played around with that stuff since I got a hold of Pixars editor from Toy Story years ago, but that's a commercial solution, extremely expensive, and mainly based around creating animation (but will do video also). http://www.pixar.com

oh shit, you own it? or you just played with it a few times? either way is awesome. I love to edit, brings me so much closer to the work.. IMO anyway. if I wasn't such a puss, I'd load up a few of the short movies on youtube that I did years ago (and no it's nothing sexual...well not XXX anyway, more like R rating lol).

I'd appreciate any info you can find out for me.

In other words, you mean buy an x86 Unix/Linux box with an operating system owned by Microsoft? I just don't understand their high prices. If you want the same as a Mac, for alot less buy a Dell and install Linux for free.
