What's your go to Starbucks order?

Lighter the coffee the stronger it is according to the roast masters I’ve spoken to.
Interesting. I've always thought the darker, bitter the coffee, the more stronger. Like expresso for example.

My understanding is that the beans swell a little the longer they are roasted so after roasting if you measured out 1 cup of beans, there'd be more light roasted beans per cup than dark roasted beans. (More light roasted beans per given volume compared to a darker roast)

I tend to think along the lines of if i really char a steak well or i only sear it a little which tastes more like the grill and which tastes more like beef.

Sounds right bud!
 
The sugar on the surface of the bean gets affected the longer and higher the temp it seems. In most cooking the sugaries can become more bitter as they camelize from heat and time.
 
Kind of random but when I was 15 I worked for a small local "boutique" chocolate place (fancy chocolates, coffee store attached, etc.) and at the time (early / mid 1990s) they had the account to make ALL the chocolate bars for ALL the Starbucks locations nationwide (in addition to what they were doing locally / in store).
They had to run 3 shifts / 24 hours a day in the small factory (above their coffee shop / store front) to get this done. Over time Starbucks grew so much that they couldn't keep up, and had to give up the account. But for a while there I was helping to wrap chocolate bars to be sold at all the Starbucks around the U.S.
